Students rehearsing a play in NamibiaThe main focus of LiveEd is the exchange of ideas, resources, skills, time and energy through creative arts programs and the use of new media technologies. This will build connection between young people from around the world, learning and growing in mutual respect and understanding across cultural and geographical borders.

Exchanges are manifest both in visits between countries by tutors, leaders and young learners and by the exchange of ideas, materials and resources through new media, including this website.

LiveEd builds exchange activity into events already embedded in the annual calendar of each participating country. Newham holds an annual Arts Festival and a major Newham Show in the summer months. In Namibia there is an Arts Festival in September, and a tour of northern villages in February. As part of the LiveEd commitment to developing young ambassadors and performance leaders, exchange visits will synchronise with the lead up and performances at these major events. In this way mentorship, shadow training and shared creative exploration are part of the strategic delivery of regular and extended arts events.

The first partnership country for exchange was identified in February 2006, when a team of 3 creative Arts teachers from Newham travelled to Namibia to research the possibility of a partnership with the Ombetja Yehinga Organisation , (OYO) who work with youth groups across the northern regions. They took resources and greetings from young people in Newham and returned with resources and greetings from young people in Namibia.

In June 2006 three young people and three members of staff from OYO visited Newham, bringing information and skills to share with young people in newham. They also took part in the Newham Arts Festival.
